Accessing your elected official is supposed to be the right of every citizen, but for the last several months, voters in the 25th congressional district have had consistent difficulty making contact with their representative, House Republican, Steve Knight. As the federal government prepares to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, a program that has high enrollment in this part of the state, Knight's staff has been reluctant to provide any information regarding the congressman's schedule, making it near impossible for his constituents to meet with him to express their fears about losing their invaluable health coverage without a clear plan to replace it.
Last week Knight sent out an email referencing a Tele Town Hall he claims to have hosted. Members of his email list received no advance notice of the call and the event was not advertised on social media or the government website.
This is unacceptable.
That's why tomorrow afternoon the Antelope Valley Democratic Club is striking back. In conjunction with every organized democratic and progressive club in the 25th district, we'll be flooding Representative Knight's three offices from 4 pm to 5 pm, marching for our right to be heard.
