Fitness Trainer Will Talk Waistlines and Wallets at National Press Club Jan. 5

WASHINGTON , Jan. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Fitness instructor, author, and TV exercise guru Denise Austin will lay out her projections for 2010's top health and fitness trends at a Book & Author event hosted by the National Press Club on Tuesday, January 5. With the launch of her new book "Denise's Daily Dozen: The Easy, Everyday Program to Lose Up to 12 Pounds in 2 Weeks," Austin will discuss the economy's effect on workout budgets and offer tips on keeping New Year's resolutions to get fit.

Austin will discuss how the stress of recession, job insecurity, and changes in the health care system could impact personal health trends in the coming year. She will address such factors as the nation's obesity epidemic, more consumers dropping gym memberships, and employers encouraging workers to keep fit to combat rising health care costs. Austin will also answer questions about her new book and promote healthy lifestyles, such as how to keep fit in an out-of-shape economy.

Called "America's Favorite Fitness Expert," Austin was appointed to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and has been an outspoken advocate of physical activity, testifying before a U.S. Senate committee on health and fitness issues. She is a nationally recognized trainer with 25-years experience in the fitness industry, selling more than 20 million exercise videos and DVDs. She is a top-selling author of 10 books, and runs an online diet and fitness website with 1.7 million subscribers. Austin also starred in television fitness shows including "Getting Fit" on ESPN and "Denise Austin's Daily Workout," "Daily Workout," and "Fit and Lite" on the Lifetime Television Network.

A reception begins at 6:30 p.m., with remarks at 7:00 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session with the author and a book signing. Books will be available for purchase on site. No outside books are permitted. All proceeds go to the NPC's Eric Friedheim Library Fund.
