Denver Development Company, Craft Delay, to Project Manage New $55 Million Sporting Complex in U.S. Virgin Islands
DENVER, April 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Denver-based development company, Craft DeLay, recently won the contract to project manage the soon to be developed new Paul E. Joseph Stadium and comprehensive sports complex in the Frederiksted on the lsland of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The $55 million sporting complex will serve as an economic engine in the community by providing a venue for sanctioned events in the areas of baseball, tennis, swimming and volleyball. It's estimated that the complex could be home to as many as 80 sanctioned events annually in numerous sporting disciplines and will draw destination visitors to the territory, its hotels and businesses. The project is a joint venture between the Territorial Government of the United States Virgin Islands and the sanctioned sporting bodies of US Swimming, US Tennis and US Beach Volleyball. There will be stadiums and other spectator venues built for all three sporting organization as well as a new minor league baseball stadium.
"Our appointment to project manage this facility includes the design, entitlement and construction, which could begin as soon as 2013," said Heath DeLay, principal at Craft DeLay. Delay said the project will be completed in two phases. Phase one is the redevelopment of the Paul E. Joseph Stadium, while Phase two focuses on the final design and construction of complex housing swimming, tennis and beach volleyball.
"Plans also include an athletic village, housing, retail and hospitality offerings," adds DeLay. "Over time it's been proposed that there will be a 350-key full service hotel and a 150-key limited service hotel.
