Deputy Premier Attends Opening Ceremony of UN Public Service Forum 2013
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa deputised Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa to attend the opening ceremony of the United Nations Public Service Forum 2013.
MANAMA, Bahrain, June 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa deputised Deputy Premier and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa to attend the opening ceremony of the United Nations Public Service Forum 2013.
The Deputy Premier delivered a statement in which he conveyed greetings from HM the King to the participants, wishing a happy stay in the kingdom and successful forum.
He affirmed the Government of Bahrain's keenness to keep abreast of all developments in the field of public service through constantly updating the laws and legislations regulating government work out of its drive to upgrade performance and achieve good governance, noting that, within HM King Hamad's pioneering Reform Project, the public service sector has assumed its role in implementing government programmes fully through enhancing performance, achieving excellence and developing mechanisms and goals, including use of ICT, transparency, responsibility and other incentives and stimulating programmes.
He added that the government is keen to provide the quality public services for the citizens, in line with its belief in the UN goals, asserting that the kingdom will embark on a plan to upgrade the performance of state establishments in the coming period, which, he said, requires it to be informed about the successful experiences of other countries.
Then, Advisor to the UN Secretary-General on Africa and Special Envoy to the Forum Dr. Maged Abdelfatah Abdelaziz delivered a statement in which he expressed the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's appreciation to HM the King for patronizing the event and for the kingdom's keenness to participate effectively in all UN programmes, noting that the choice of Bahrain to be the venue for the first Public Service Forum is in recognition of its efforts to develop public services and great success in the field of e-Government.
Finally, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani welcomed hosting the forum in Bahrain, adding that the move is in tribute to the kingdom's efforts and pioneering position in the field of public service, praising Bahrain's strides in this regard.
