Desert Radiologists Earns ACR Breast MRI Accreditation

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Desert Radiologists has earned Breast MRI accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR) and is the first facility in Las Vegas to receive this prestigious designation for its breast MRI services. The accreditation certifies that the breast MRI at Desert Radiologists meets ACR's rigorous standards of image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

Studies have established the significance of breast MRI in the detection, monitoring and treatment of breast cancer. However, inconsistency across programs means not all women realize the same benefit. The need for standardization in part prompted ACR to establish its breast MRI accreditation program in 2010. Accreditation through the ACR involves thorough, repeated and objective evaluation of every aspect of a facilities' breast MRI offerings. This manner of assessment is the only true way to ensure high standards of breast care are set and upheld.

Desert Radiologists recently completed an upgrade to their MRI equipment.
