BALTIMORE, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- C&R Environmental Associates recently completed the interior renovation of the historic landmark office building for the U.S. Customs House.  The Baltimore-based design engineering and construction management company faced many challenges in the renovation of the 103 + year -old building, especially in decisions surrounding electrical power distribution.

Located in downtown Baltimore, the building is designated as a historic location, meaning there are strict guidelines affecting every detail of the project. With multiple amperages in three designated computer rooms located throughout the building, C&R required a power distribution solution that would help them install the latest technology and equipment without affecting the aesthetic value of the architecture and interior environment.

The C&R team turned to Universal Electric Corp. and its signature STARLINE power distribution solutions. According to C&R Project Superintendant, David Jefferson, the company's STARLINE Plug-In Race Way offered the versatility essential to a highly customized environment.

"We had limited space, different power load requirements in three different areas of the building, and we were on a very tight turn-around time-frame. The STARLINE Plug-In Race Way provided alternate amperage draws and separate amperages for different areas, the ease of the installation and the STARLINE team who was with us every step of the way, helped us meet our deadline," said Mr. Jefferson. He added that a renovation of any kind is challenging, especially historic buildings. A customizable electrical power distribution solution eliminates a huge concern logistically and aesthetically.

"The value in STARLINE is its flexibility. We put the right amount of power exactly where it was needed, and without all the wires, the room still looks nice.   Our client was happy," said Mr. Jefferson.
