Designers, Curators and Authors to Share Their Stories at the Philadelphia Antiques and Art Show, April 15-17
Unique items from Show Dealers' own personal collections will also be on display in special loan exhibit
PHILADELPHIA, March 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Antiques and art experts from across the country will host a series of discussions during the 54th Philadelphia Antiques & Art Show, April 15-17 at The Navy Yard.
Speakers include: designer Ellie Cullman, consistently recognized by "Architectural Digest" on its AD 100 top designers list; Johanna McBrien, Editor-in-Chief of "Antiques & Fine Art" magazine and InCollect.com; Nancy Moses, award-winning author of Lost in the Museum: Hidden Treasures and the Stories they Tell; and Alexandra Kirtley, Curator of American Decorative Arts at Philadelphia Museum of Art.
In addition to the designers, curators and authors sharing their stories, there is also a special loan exhibit, "Secret Treasures," that is filled with unique objects from dealers' personal collections. Many of the collectibles have seldom been exhibited publicly.
Long regarded as one of the best Shows of its kind, this year's event features 58 dealers specializing in a wide range of periods and styles – offering a selection of furniture, fine and decorative arts, silver, textiles, porcelain and jewelry from the 17th through the mid-20th centuries. More contemporary art is being infused into the mix as well, which is a change from years past.
"We're very excited to take the Show back to The Navy Yard after a few years in Center City. It's become such a vibrant, thriving campus – and a perfect backdrop for an event where the focus is on 'old being new again,'" said Nancy Kneeland, who is co-chairing with Anne Hamilton.
The Philadelphia Antiques & Art Show is open to the public Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 from 11am until 8pm and Sunday, April 17 from 11am until 5pm. General admission is $20/person and includes entry into the regular programming, with discounts available for students, seniors and groups. Tickets are currently on sale.
