Detroit Thermal Systems to Launch State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Operations in Detroit Area

ROMULUS, Mich., Oct. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Detroit Thermal Systems, LLC (DTS) announced that the company has selected a facility in Romulus, Michigan to serve as its primary manufacturing location, pending approval of state and local incentives. Located at 6505 Cogswell Street, approximately 365,000 sq. ft. will be leased by DTS to house its recent acquisition of the Automotive Components Holdings, LLC (ACH) climate control systems business. The company will make the necessary investments to revitalize the site and refurbish assembly systems to support production of world class heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for automakers.

The DTS facility will be vertically integrated with in-house capability for manufacturing of components and assembly of complete HVAC modules. Included in the equipment line-up will be 30 precision injection molding presses to manufacture plastic components. The new plant will have the capacity to produce more than two million HVAC systems annually. The manufacturing systems will be designed to meet the automotive industry's highest standards for efficiency and manufacturing quality. The plant will also be eco-friendly, with initiatives to minimize the use of energy and water, and to maximize the recycling of materials.

The refurbishment of the facility and installation of equipment is planned to begin immediately. Ramp up for production is expected during the third quarter of 2013. Based on forecast industry demand, DTS anticipates employing a workforce of 500 by year-end 2014.
