Device42, Inc. Appoints Former EMC CTO Jeff Nick as an Independent Board Member

NEW HAVEN, Conn., Nov. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Device42, Inc., a leading global provider of IT Infrastructure Management software, today announced that it has appointed Jeffrey Nick as a new member of the Company's Board of Directors.

About Jeff Nick

From April 2103 to July 2014, Mr. Nick served as Pivotal Software's Senior Vice President and Chief Solutions Architect following Pivotal's inception as a spinout from EMC and VMware. Pivotal was formed in 2013 to address the needs of enterprise customers looking to adopt cloud computing and leverage big data analytics at cloud-scale. During his tenure at Pivotal, Jeff led the formation of Solutions R&D, with a mission to "connect the dots" across Pivotal's technology products into packaged offerings solving customer business problems.

He also served as Corporate CTO at EMC from 2004 to 2012, where he was responsible for cross-product technology strategy and he played a major role in setting technical direction for EMC's M&A activities in the areas of cloud computing, software-defined data center, and data analytics. As CTO, Nick founded and drove EMC Labs, linking EMC's advanced research efforts worldwide.

Prior to EMC, Nick served 24 years with IBM in a wide range of technical leadership positions with skills developed across a broad array of computer technology disciplines, including software development, microcode, systems architecture, clustered and distributed systems, database sharing algorithms, and transaction processing.

Nick was appointed the industry-recognized title of IBM Fellow in 2001 and received four separate IBM Corporate Awards during his career and currently holds 80+ issued patents in the field of computer systems technology.
