LONDON, September 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
DEWAR'S® Scotch Whisky, one of Scotland's most awarded whiskies, is building on its association with TED, the organisation devoted to ideas worth spreading, by supporting the TEDxMIA conference in Miami Beach, Florida.
This year's TEDxMIA conference theme was 'Between the Lines', exploring where change begins, ideas are born, drawings emerge and notes dance. The inspirational speakers included novelist and TV host Brad Meltzer, designer Barbara de Vries and founder of Experience Aviation Barrington Irving.
In July DEWAR'S announced its partnership with TEDGlobal, which was being held in Edinburgh for the first time. During the conference, DEWAR'S developed a unique perspective of TEDGlobal through the eyes of well-known artist Hugh MacLeod, who created insightful illustrations each day reflecting his own thoughts on the conference talks.
This collection of unique illustrations were exhibited for the first time at the TEDxMIA conference in Miami Beach. These illustrations can be viewed on the DEWAR'S Facebook page. In addition, DEWAR'S entertained TEDsters with DEWAR'S 12 year old whisky and signature DEWAR'S cocktails.
"TED has had the pleasure of collaborating with many of the world's most ground-breaking brands. Our partnerships allow us to encourage and expand the dialogue of innovation," said Ronda Carnegie, Head of Global Partnership at TED.
Iain Kennedy, Senior GlobalCategoryDirector, DEWAR'S whisky, added, "We are really keen to build this association into a long-term partnership. TED has become a global phenomenon and is committed to the spread of great ideas and their positive outcome. This fits perfectly with DEWAR'Sown view of life that some things are just worth doing."

About DEWAR'S Blended Scotch Whisky
Founded in 1846 by John Dewar, DEWAR'S has grown from a small wine and spirits merchant shop in Scotland, to one of the largest Scotch whisky brands in the world. Best known for its iconic DEWAR'S White Label, the top selling Blended Scotch Whisky in the USA, it has expanded its family to create a portfolio of premium and super premium whiskies including DEWAR'S 12 Years Old, DEWAR'S 18 Years Old & the exclusive DEWAR'S Signature. These whiskies are crafted using the DEWAR'S double-ageing process. Pioneered by DEWAR'S in 1899, it involves returning the hand-crafted blend to vintage oak casks for further maturation. The result is a smoother taste with a long, lingering finish; an extra step that is simply worth doing. A taste that wins medals and applause, making DEWAR'S one of Scotland's most awarded whiskies.
TED is a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 26 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. At TED, the world's leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Benoit Mandelbrot, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Two major TED events are held each year: The TED Conference takes place every spring in Long Beach, California (along with a parallel conference, TEDActive, in Palm Springs), and TEDGlobal will be held each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland.
TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily; the new TED Conversations, enabling broad conversations among TED fans; and the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide.
TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world are given the opportunity to put their wishes into action; TEDx, which offers individuals or groups a way to host local, self-organized events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
