Dickies And AAFES Host American Hero Of The Year Contest
NOMINATE A FAVORITE HERO FOR THE CHANCE TO WIN $25,000
FORT WORTH, Texas, June 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading global workwear brand Dickies, together with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), is proud to announce the 2013 Dickies American Hero of the Year Contest*. Dickies and AAFES are calling for entries to honor someone who's served in the military community and exemplifies the qualities of an American Hero. The winning nominee will win $25,000. Four finalists will also receive prizes of $1,000 each. Dickies is accepting entries through June 17. Nominations may be submitted for yourself or on behalf of someone you know.
Whether a potential nominee is currently deployed, supporting active duty personnel, retired military, or simply keeping the family together at home, Dickies wants to know how they have inspired those around them and what makes them an American Hero. Submissions can be in the form of a video, photo and essay, or essay submission and will be judged on entry composition, entry sincerity and how well the nominee represents the American Hero. The Finalists' entries will be displayed on the American Hero of the Year website for public voting between July 5, 2013 at 12:00AM CT and August 6, 2013 at 11:59PM CT. Public voting will determine the Grand Prize Winner from the finalists.
"America's heroes come in many forms and Dickies wishes to honor those who have given so much to our country," said Matthew McCartin, head of marketing for Dickies. "Dickies is proud to work with the Exchange again this year to recognize what it truly means to be an American Hero."
The Dickies American Hero of the Year Contest is a global promotion together with AAFES, better known as The Exchange (www.shopmyexchange.com) and open to all United States military personnel, retired or active duty, along with their families and friends.
"The Exchange always looks for ways to give back to the military community," said AAFES COO Mike Howard. "The American Hero of the Year competition offers a great opportunity to do this as well as provide a platform for the stories of the many brave men and women who have served."
