LAS VEGAS, July 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- DigiPath, Inc. (OTCBB and OTCQB: DIGP), the independent cannabis testing and media firm, has joined the Coalition for Responsible Cannabis Production (CRCP), a nationally focused industry standards and production protocols organization.
DigiPath and CRCP are currently collaborating with the Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG) and the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) to address public health and safety issues related to the cannabis industry.
"Marijuana, as an ingestible product, needs to be safely produced in accordance with rigorous standards and protocols," said DigiPath CEO Todd Denkin. "We have moved well beyond allowing the medicinal use of cannabis. It is no longer an experiment. Voters are enacting laws legalizing cannabis use in cities and states across the country."
Denkin believes DigiPath and other businesses associated with cannabis production have an obligation to provide attorneys general and law enforcement officials with accurate and reliable information relating to this emerging industry.
"Only then can we collectively understand and articulate the impacts cannabis laws and policies can have on public health and safety," said Denkin. "It also becomes crystal clear that establishing rigorous standards is the only path that should be followed in addressing public safety and health concerns."
This week, Dr. Cindy Orser, Chief Science Officer of DigiPath Labs, shared relevant information with an audience of attorneys general during a panel discussion titled "Marijuana Legalization Update: Establishing Standards to Address Law Enforcement, Public Safety and Consumer Needs" at the CWAG Annual Meeting in Hawaii.
DigiPath Labs utilizes state-of-the-art Agilent analytical instrumentation to quantify the presence of dozens of medicinal compounds like THC and CBD and potentially harmful contaminants such as pesticides, mycotoxins, microbes, heavy metals, and solvents used to make cannabis concentrates.
DigiPath Labs is a subsidiary of DigiPath, Inc., a diversified company that supports the cannabis industry's best practices for reliable testing, education, and training, and brings unbiased cannabis news coverage to the nation.
