Dipti Itchhaporia, M.D., Elected to American College of Cardiology's Chair of the Board of Governors

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., April 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian today announced that Dipti Itchhaporia, M.D., F.A.C.C., Robert and Georgia Roth Chair for Excellence in Cardiac Care and director of disease management at the Hoag Heart & Vascular Institute, was elected Chair of the Board of Governors of the American College of Cardiology (ACC).

As the new Chair Elect, Dr. Itchhaporia will serve as the voice of the board of governors, providing key bio-directional communications between the chapters and the board of trustees. She will work side-by-side with the immediate past-Chair and the current Chair to help set the agenda of the state chapters. Dr. Itchhaporia will assume her term as the Chair of the Board of Governors in April 2012.

Dr. Itchhaporia has a long history of leadership with the ACC, having served as the state chapter's Southern California Governor, immediate past-President and Orange County Councilor. Additionally, she has served as a member of the CA chapter's ACC Executive Committee, Chair of the Membership Committee, Chair of the Women in Heart Disease Committee, the advocacy committee and the CT working group.

Since 2001, Dr. Itchhaporia has served as director of disease management for Hoag's Heart & Vascular Institute where she leads the congestive heart failure management program and the anticoagulation clinic. In addition to her support of the ACC, Dr. Itchhaporia is actively involved with various other professional organizations, including the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the American Heart Association. As part of her commitment to industry education, Dr. Itchhaporia regularly conducts community lectures on cardiovascular disease, and has authored and co-authored many scientific papers related to the medical specialty of cardiology.
