The 27-year-old performer was born in Honolulu and had been around music as a youngster.  Both of his parents have been entertainers with his mother singing and dancing and his father performing percussion.  Even his uncle was in show business as an Elvis impersonator, and the young star-to-be was encouraged to try impersonating Elvis as well.  He acquired a reputation in Hawaii due to his talent which prompted him to move to Los Angeles after high school graduation in order to further his career.  

The talented artist originally wrote material for other performers but eventually proceeded to solo entertaining.  He has released two albums and has sold over 6 million recordings to date, and more than 40 million of his singles have sold worldwide.  The star is also an accomplished musician and plays the harmonica, guitar, keyboard, drums, piano, and bass.
