ALPHARETTA, Ga., June 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dispersive Technologies, Inc. (www.dispersivetechnologies.com) today introduced the Dispersive™ Edge Switch, a device that enables enterprises to fully leverage the company's global virtualized overlay network and SaaS infrastructure, DispersiveCloudSM.
The software-defined, Layer 2 switch connects edge locations – regional branches, warehouses, ecosystem partners, etc. – to each other and to DispersiveCloudSM. It is available preinstalled on commodity hardware or as a preconfigured virtual appliance that plugs into a virtual machine environment.
"The Dispersive™ Edge Switch is the latest example of our software-defined solutions that are changing the way organizations use the internet," said Robert W. Twitchell, Jr., president and CEO of Dispersive Technologies. "It's now easier than ever for enterprises to implement a Dispersive SDN solution and achieve award-winning security and world-class network performance."
The switch dynamically aggregates all WAN connections at a location. It then automatically selects the fastest, most reliable and most available paths across the Dispersive™ Virtualized Network for data traffic between company sites.
"Dispersive Technologies' new switch greatly simplifies implementing a site-to-site SDN strategy that enables organizations to confidently move away from MPLS and VPNs," Twitchell explained. "By using this switch to access the Dispersive™ VN, companies can do away with time-consuming policy-based routing and the latency problems inherent with legacy networks while eliminating the vulnerabilities and administrative complexities of VPNs. Companies can now move data more securely, more reliably, and up to 10 times faster than a VPN."
