MobileIron is the first enterprise mobility management (EMM) provider to integrate Divide's new standalone email and personal identity management (PIM) suite, which is secured through MobileIron's AppConnect. Together, Divide and MobileIron offer customers a complete solution for securing business data on mobile devices and building a comprehensive mobile strategy.
"We're thrilled to extend the benefits of Divide's email, contacts, calendar and tasks apps to MobileIron's customers," said Andrew Toy, CEO Divide. "The integration with MobileIron AppConnect showcases the investments we've made in the last four years on design and usability and underscores how enterprise mobility is moving beyond just security to empowering workers with great, user-friendly productivity experiences."
The integration is the latest for Divide, which has worked to provide customer choice through partnerships with IBM, Tangoe, Verizon and other EMM providers. It also reflects the rise of containerized solutions, which are fast becoming essential complements to mobile device management (MDM) platforms.
"The landscape for containers continues to grow more complex as vendors supply containers for a wide variety of purposes. The mobile device management (MDM) vendors initially focused on securing the whole device. This approach was fine as long as the devices used were supplied by the enterprise. With the onset of bring your own device (BYOD) initiatives, employees tolerate less enterprise control of their personal devices. This shift has given rise to new security strategies focused on managing and securing applications and data, rather than devices," wrote Ken Parmelee in the Gartner report titled Containers Have a Major Impact on HTML5 Mobile Application Development Projects, published 04 June 2013.
The Divide PIM solution is one of the key components in MobileIron for Android, a new release aimed at equipping customers with the necessary tools to make Android a secure and productive alternative to BlackBerry.
"MobileIron is dedicated to providing mobile security and productivity tools to solve the BYOD challenge," said Ojas Rege, VP Strategy, MobileIron. "Divide has built a powerful and well-designed suite of productivity apps that customers have embraced. We're excited to offer Divide as part of a complete Android offering."
In addition to the standalone Divide PIM solution, Divide offers a full range of enterprise mobility offerings including end-to-end containerization for Android and iOS.
