Dodge Ram Claims Top Spot in ADBOWL® XLVII English
But in an unusual experiment, two homemade kitten videos were rated more highly than all but five multi-million dollar commercials
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Feb. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Dodge Ram's "Farmer" spot was the highest-rated commercial during Super Bowl XLVII according to ADBOWL®, the original advertising ranking website for consumers developed in 2002 by McKee Wallwork & Company. But two everyday Internet kitten videos outperformed most of the big-budget commercials.
As of 11:00 p.m. MST*, the top 5 ads as ranked by ADBOWL® voters on a five point scale were:
1 |
Ram Truck: Farmer |
4.2121 |
2 |
Tide: Miracle Stain |
4.1356 |
3 |
Budweiser: The Clydesdales - Brotherhood |
3.9735 |
4 |
Coca-Cola: Security Camera |
3.6047 |
5 |
Kia: Space Babies |
3.5926 |

"The ads were like the game itself," said Steve McKee, president of McKee Wallwork & Company. "It was a slow start, but the competition heated up as the game went on."
During and after the game, viewers went to the ADBOWL® website and rated the commercials on a scale between one and five. They were also encouraged to rate cat videos created by average people on the same five-point scale. "We thought it would be fun to pit the most popular Internet content on the day of the big game vs. what rules the web the other 364 days of the year," said McKee. "And our hunch was right, as two of the top ten ratings went to kitty videos."

"I'm not sure what it means when homemade kitten videos can compete head-to-head with multi-million dollar commercials," said McKee. "Except that cats rule the world. But we knew that."
