Candidates flock to take his place, including the yuge yellow bird Donny Trumpet--and his presidency could have disastrous results for Birdland. That's the premise behind the new illustrated e-book Donny Trumpet Goes to the Election: The Story of a Yuge Yellow Bird, released this week by author and illustrator Nazan Saatci (ISBN 978-0-9976506-1-7, Fairy Hill Publishing, LLC, $9.99 for Kindle).

At once funny and chilling, Donny Trumpet Goes to the Election starts off innocently enough: All the birds of Birdland fly in for the elections, with a fresh crop of candidates and talking heads inspired by Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, John Kasich, Ted Cruz, Hugh Hewitt, and Megyn Kelly, and an outgoing leader inspired by President Obama. But when Donny Trumpet, a yuge yellow bird inspired by Donald Trump, throws his hat into the ring, things take a dark turn.

Soon Donny Trumpet is disparaging the other candidates, pledging to keep all immigrant birds out of Birdland's skies, threatening to fight everybody, proposing to raze Birdland and rebuild it his way, and frightening baby birds. As Donny Trumpet seems set to destroy the birds' happy home, Old Eagle steps in to restore peace to Birdland--but is it too late?

"I was not planning to write about the 2016 election. I was not even following the media," Saatci explained. "I was writing a funny storybook about birds for children when suddenly, a book cover appeared in my mind. I knew who the characters were, but I had no idea what to write. I am not an illustrator. I sat down to draw the sketch of the cover, and next thing I knew, I was writing and drawing Donny Trumpet."

Donny Trumpet Goes to the Election is a cautionary tale for the whole family. Younger readers will enjoy the rhyming prose and vibrant illustrations, while older readers will hear strains of Animal Farm, George Orwell's classic allegorical portrayal of the Russian Revolution.

Born in Samsun, a city near the Black Sea in Turkey, Nazan Saatci is an accomplished actress with over 30 feature films and television roles to her name in Turkey, India, Pakistan, Iran, Nepal, and France. While Donald Trump purchased the Miss Universe organization, Saatci did the hard work of organizing beauty pageants after winning several crowns of her own. A true renaissance woman, Saatci is a singer/songwriter who graduated from the University of Istanbul with a B.A. in Linguistics and Literature. But it was only after a series of spiritual experiences that she realized writing was her true calling.
