ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., Aug. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Men who coach youth and high school sports have the ability to shape the next generation by showing care and offering guidance and support on and off the field. However, what may go unnoticed is the positive effect coaching has on the coaches themselves. New Dove Men+Care Deodorant research shows that 9 in 10 coaches today believe coaching enriches their lives1, which is why the global men's grooming brand is partnering with the College Football Hall of Fame to celebrate the most caring youth football coaches across the country, and the impact their actions have on communities, athletes, and themselves.

The second annual installment of this Dove Men+Care Deodorant campaign launches just in time for the start of football season, and will champion real men for their efforts on and off the field. The brand will identify opportunities to showcase how men who coach are enriched by the opportunities to mentor and support those around them, and by acting as positive role models in their communities.  These include the return of the "Caring Coach of the Year" award – which will honor four deserving youth football coaches across the United States – and a season-long partnership with head college football coach, Bob Stoops. Stoops, who has been a head coach for 17 years and has received multiple "coach of the year" awards, will share firsthand experiences of the ways in which coaching has made him feel happier, more confident and stronger over the last three decades. He will also play an integral role in selecting the "Caring Coach of the Year" award recipients and will assist Dove Men+Care Deodorant in the development of an upcoming free, coach-sourced curriculum designed to help coaches shape the next generation of leaders.

"Coaching has enabled me to not only show my players how to become better people off the field, but also to value myself more as a leader in my community and as a support system for those around me," said Stoops. "I am glad to be working with Dove Men+Care Deodorant to acknowledge other coaches like me and to provide them with the tools they need to be the best coaches they can be."

"CARING COACH" YEAR 2

Dove Men+Care Deodorant will continue its partnership with the College Football Hall of Fame to honor the coaches who encourage their teams and guide them on and off the field throughout the entire football season and beyond. Starting today, the brand and the Hall will open the submission window for the next "Caring Coach of the Year" award, encouraging fans to share the stories of the ways in which their local youth football coaches have made a difference in their lives and in their communities. Ultimately, the four coaches who most strongly display passion, determination, respect, support and encouragement will receive this award.

In 2014, 827 coaches were nominated for the award, and the four winners have collectively touched the lives of more than 30,000 athletes, and counting. Once again, this year's winners and their nominators will receive a trip to Atlanta, Georgia, where the coaches will be honored by the College Football Hall of Fame. The winning coaches will also receive funding to continue to cultivate their local football programs. Submissions can be made via Twitter and Facebook by using the #CaringCoachAward or by visiting Dovemencare.com/caringcoach.

"Dove Men+Care Deodorant is committed to showing how men's caring roles impact themselves and others—coaches are integral to the development of today's youth beyond the sports setting, and our brand wanted to celebrate that for a second year," said Matthew McCarthy, Senior Director of Deodorants/Antiperspirants, Unilever. "75 percent of coaches feel they are able to teach and instill 'off the field' lessons to their teams2, and we are proud to honor four men for their accomplishments this year in a truly unique way with the College Football Hall of Fame."

On Saturday, August 29, Dove Men+Care Deodorant will kick off the "Caring Coach" campaign at the College Football Hall of Fame attraction in Atlanta. The partners will host a football clinic with Kids & Pros – a national organization that provides skill and sportsmanship training to children throughout the country – with the help of former professional and collegiate stars, highlighting the ways in which weaving character lessons into a typical practice enables coaches to make the most of each opportunity with their athletes.
