MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Trovita Health Science, an emerging life science company focused in clinical nutrition innovation appointed Dr. Harold Smith, molecular biologist and Professor at University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, as a senior advisor on Trovita's Scientific Advisory Board. Additionally, Dr. Smith is CEO of OyaGen, Inc., a Rochester, New York based pre-clinical biotechnology company focused on developing new mechanisms of action to treat and cure a spectrum of diseases, including a platform for HIV/AIDS, ebola virus, and oncology.

Dr. Smith has a distinguished career in academic RNA biology research, and teaching biochemistry and nutrition in the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry curriculum. He has received multiple grants from NIH in the areas of obesity-induced Type II diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, and HIV/AIDS, in addition to receiving a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for innovation in HIV/AIDS drug discovery. His anticipated contributions in assisting to obtain grants related to advancing the scientific understanding of the impact of nutrition status on treatment outcomes in chronic diseases will be meaningful in establishing Trovita Health Science as a leading company in the medical nutrition category.
