Oransky's primary responsibility will be to lead the global content strategy by developing new MedPage Today offerings in news, features, and commentary. MedPage Today publishes daily, reaching 35 medical specialties as well as healthcare administrators, policy-makers, and medical researchers. Through a variety of strategic partnerships and e-newsletters MedPage Today delivers peer-reviewed news from medical journals as well as more than 100 medical conferences worldwide to more than a third of U.S. physicians and a half million allied health professionals daily.

Previously, Oransky was the executive editor of Reuters Health and held editorial leadership roles at publications such as Scientific American and The Scientist. His byline has also appeared in the Boston Globe, Fitness, The Lancet, Slate, and The Wall Street Journal. As a frequent contributor of compelling and thought-provoking commentaries, Oransky is well-known to the audiences at NPR and the CBC, as well as readers of The New York Times. He has spoken at TEDMED, and has presented at both journalism and industry conferences worldwide.
Oransky also is the co-founder of Retraction Watch and founder of Embargo Watch, two blogs that bridge the gap between journalism and science.
Oransky also serves on the board of directors for the Association of Health Care Journalists and as AHCJ treasurer and is a member of the National Association of Science Writers. He has taught medical journalism in New York University's Science, Health, and Environmental Reporting Program since 2002, and has also taught at the City University of New York's Graduate School of Journalism. He is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the New York University School of Medicine, where he received his MD. During medical school, he served as co-Editor-in-Chief of Pulse, the medical student section of the Journal of American Medical Association. He completed his internship at Yale University and has a BA from Harvard.
