Sturchio, PhD, has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Rabin Martin, an innovative global health consulting firm working with clients at the intersection of business, philanthropy, policy and public health to solve some of the world's largest health challenges. The firm provides the world's leading corporations, foundations, NGOs, governments and multilateral organizations – including Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Co., Inc., AstraZeneca, UNICEF and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation – with creative strategies, program design and program implementation reaching underserved populations in the U.S. , Europe, emerging markets and least developed countries.

Dr. Sturchio joined Rabin Martin in 2011 as Senior Partner. As the firm's chief strategist, he has led efforts for the United Nations, Merck KGaA, Novo Nordisk, BD and others. He is a global leader in developing innovative market access strategies and mobilizing the global health community's response to the growing epidemic of non-communicable diseases.
Sturchio is chairman of the BroadReach Institute of Training and Education, serves on the boards of the U.S. Pharmacopeia and the Corporate Council on Africa, and is active as an advisor to many organizations, including the Clinton Global Initiative, the NCD Alliance, amfAR, the Global Health Group of the University of California, San Francisco, and the Center for Health and Wellbeing at Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Dr. Sturchio is also a visiting scholar at the Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health and the Study of Business Enterprise at The Johns Hopkins University; a senior associate of the Global Health Policy Center at the Center for Strategic and International Studies; a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science; a member of the Council on Foreign Relations; and a principal of the Modernizing Foreign Assistance Network.
Dr. Sturchio served previously as Vice President for Corporate Responsibility at Merck & Co. Inc., and as President of The Merck Company Foundation, where he had responsibility for several major partnerships, including the Merck Institute for Science Education; the Merck Childhood Asthma Network; the Mectizan Donation Program; and the African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Partnerships in Botswana. He has also served as Chairman of the U.S. Corporate Council on Africa and President and CEO of the Global Health Council.
He has published widely on business and global health issues, including the recent volume (edited with Louis Galambos) on Noncommunicable Diseases in the Developing World: Addressing Gaps in Policy and Research (Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press, 2013). He received his PhD in the history & sociology of science from the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree in history from Princeton University.

Rebecca Hoppy, a nine year veteran of the firm, was named Rabin Martin's Managing Director. In this role she coordinates all client service efforts of the 47 person staff in five cities and three countries. This work ranges across treatment and diagnostic advocacy programs for minority populations and adolescents in the United States; international health programs focused on maternal health, HIV, TB and cardiovascular disease; institutional reputation programs and communications campaigns for leading corporations and foundations; and efforts to expand access to medicines and diagnostics across the world.
Hoppy comes to this role with extensive experience. In her tenure at Rabin Martin, she has led a broad portfolio of global and domestic initiatives. In the United States she worked with state government, the U.S. government and community-based organizations to create best practice models for enrollment and retention in care and treatment; expanded teen access to mental health screening in the United States; and a network of Black and Latino health advocates in 30 U.S. cities. Outside the U.S., she has led efforts of the United Nations and leading NGO's to improve clinical trial design for women and girls and an effort to coalesce business and NGO leaders In New Delhi, India, around priority health issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Hoppy served as Associate Director of Communications for the Center for Mental Health Check Ups at Columbia University. She received a bachelor's degree in organizational communications from Marist College.
The other members of the firm's senior leadership are Executive Vice Presidents Kate Schachern, Maria Schneider and Rob Anderson.
