His concerned parents took him to Children's Hospital in their hometown of Pittsburgh and the doctors there – after $12,671 spent on medical testing – concluded only that he had large sinuses, and prescribed the medication Anitvert, which did nothing for the dizziness and left his stomach upset (a common side effect of the medication).

Two days later, he went to his step mothers' sister's chiropractor, who determined the cause of his problem as an injury from playing sports, and with several specific spinal adjustments, cured the problem, thus changing Dr. Vinton's life, and eventually the lives of thousands of his patients, and doctors around the world who have come to learn from him.

Inspired to draw on his natural tendencies to help others, he devoted his life to becoming a world class chiropractor and healer, enrolling in an accelerated program which allowed him to do his undergraduate study at the University of Pittsburgh; earning his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the State of New York; finishing with his Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic with research honors in June 1989; interned with the world famous Dr. Walter V.
