Dr Kristen Donohue Places Dental Implants for Patients in the Dominican Republic, as Part of a Service Mission
BURKE, Va., April 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Burke Virginia dentist, Dr Kristen Donohue, traveled to a Santo Domingo where she placed numerous dental implants, as part of over $2 million in donated dental implant surgery with Implant Continuum.
Under the guidance of Dr Arun Garg and the Implant Continuum faculty, 30 American doctors traveled to a Santo Domingo dental school from April 12-15, 2013 to provide free dental implant services to over 250 local citizens. The patients selected had limited resources and in many cases, several missing teeth. Over $2 million dollars of implant dentistry was donated over the 3 day mission.
Dr Donohue participated in the mission trip for two reasons, "I loved being able to help these patients gain function and the ability to chew food again, but this mission was also a great chance to increase my implant surgery skills under the guidance of elite faculty". The patients will return to the dental school in 6 months to have the implants restored for free with dentures and crowns by Dominican dental students. Implant Continuum and the volunteer doctors provided the implants and needed parts for the eventual restorations.
Dr Donohue is the owner of Sunshine Dentists, a cosmetic and family dental practice in Burke, Virginia. She routinely performs implant surgery in her own dental practice. http://www.sunshinedentists.com
