Dream Come True: Single Mother Wins $10,000 for New Home Through The Great Home Giveaway

PEABODY, Mass., Aug. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Surprised with $10,000 from The Great Home Giveaway, Michelle Campanella of Saugus, MA is seeing her dream of home ownership come true. Today, this 32-year-old single mother is starting the next chapter of her life as she moves from her parents' home in Saugus to a sparkling new home in nearby Peabody.

Campanella is the first winner of The Great Home Giveaway, a new contest offering more than a quarter million dollars to potential homebuyers. More than 200 real estate agents nationwide, including Mike Quail, Team Leader of The Quail Group at RE/MAX Advantage, Beverly, MA, are sponsoring the contest with Commissions Inc.  and First Option Mortgage.

"Every cent I've ever saved was going toward this home," said Campanella. "But now, with the $10,000 to help with my down payment, I'll actually have money for furniture and maybe even a little left over for my savings account."

Campanella, who had been living with her parents in Saugus, began saving for a home last year after securing a new job. In June 2014, she started looking for the right home in a quiet neighborhood with a good school system and eventually reached out to The Quail Group at RE/MAX Advantage. Thanks to her buyer specialist from the team, Michelle Theriault, they quickly helped her find the ideal home in Peabody. Mike Quail and his team also suggested that she enter the national giveaway, though little did anyone dream that she would become the first winner.

Commissions Inc., which offers the free mobile app "Local Homes" designed specifically for serious homebuyers, notified The Quail Group at RE/MAX Advantage that Campanella had won, and the organizations then planned a surprise event for her. The real estate agency invited her to their Beverly offices to discuss details of her financing. However, when she arrived, Quail and his colleagues greeted her with balloons and the $10,000 check (blown up "supersized"). He was joined by Duane LeGate, CEO of Commissions Inc., who had flown in from the company's Atlanta headquarters to congratulate her.
