Dry Harbor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center Upgrades State of the Art Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Program
NEW YORK, March 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dry Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, open for over three decades, recently announced the improvement of their already excellent Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Program. The goals of the enhanced program include improving patient care, allowing for after-hour physician visits, and preventing re-hospitalizations for patients.
Dry Harbor is a 360-bed nursing and rehabilitation center that has both short term and long term care options. Their highly-trained professional staff works to provide residents with the best care in Rehabilitation, Nursing, Medical, Nutrition, and Social Services. They provide personal care at every step of the process through the design of individual comprehensive care plans for each resident.
Recently, they have expanded their Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Program which includes a team of board-certified physicians in Cardiology, Pulmonology, and Infectious Disease. This is in addition to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, all of whom are under the supervision of the Medical Director, Vincent Rappa, MD. The upgrades include the hiring of additional staff such that patients receive extended hours of medical care.
As Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab patients are admitted to the facility, the doctors and staff do a complete review of medications and evaluate any possible drug interactions. The staff at Dry Harbor is trained to insert MID lines, central lines and peripheral lines as necessary. Patients' goals are monitored via documentation and communication across all departments and overseen by the revamped Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Program.
The seven-day rehabilitation program includes restorative physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy overseen by the on-staff physiatrist. Cardiac and pulmonary patients also receive cardio-pulmonary exercise testing, vestibular exercises, and 02 saturation monitoring. As Dr. Rappa explains, "The goal of any patient program is to get patients out of the hospital and into rehab as quickly and effortlessly as possible. Certainly, the goal is to build their strength back up and to ensure that the patients return home in the near future. Dry Harbor works tirelessly to fulfill these goals in a warm and loving setting."
The Dry Harbor rehab team is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the borough. Their goal is to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated healing process, and the enhancement of the Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Program is certainly one more example of their efforts.
