SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On September 14, 2012, DSME held a steel cutting ceremony for Excelerate Energy's LNG regasification vessel Hull No. 2402, signifying the commencement of the construction process for the vessel. This vessel will ultimately provide service to Petrobras under long-term charter for its VT3 project in Guanabara Bay, Brazil, and is expected to be operational in the first half of 2014.

The vessel will be capable of operating as both a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and a fully tradable LNG carrier. With a storage capacity of 173,400 m3 and sendout capability of 1 Bcf/d, it will be the largest and most capable FSRU in the industry.
