DSW Announces $75,000 Donation to Comfort Cases

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 4 , 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- DSW Inc. (NYSE: DSW), a leading branded footwear and accessories retailer, announces the winner of this year's Shoe Lovers Care Leave Your Mark campaign, Comfort Cases.  DSW associates nominated several family-focused non-profit organizations that have made an impression on their lives. After the DSW team narrowed the nominations to eight finalists, associates and customers cast their votes on social media to support their favorite charities.

Comfort Cases received a $75,000 donation from DSW on behalf of its associates and customers. Their mission is to create a world in which foster youth are treated with dignity and compassion and where communities are committed to helping them thrive.

The organization was nominated by Erica T., a sales associate in Cleveland, OH. She was joined by Roger Rawlins, CEO, to present the check to the organization, and the video can be viewed at www.shoeloverscare.com.

"Our system is shattered, we have to rebuild it, this $75,000 that DSW is giving us, is going to give us the platform to start changing things, to start getting people to be aware of the fact that foster children deserve the same thing that you and I get, and that is to feel wanted, that is to be given the opportunity to be better than the way we expect them to be." To celebrate this milestone, Robert Scheer  is getting his first tattoo  to commemorate his lifelong commitment to the needs of foster children. 

The other seven finalists: The Jessie Rees Foundation, A Kid Again, Operation Homefront, The Trevor Project, Providence House, Boys and Girls Club of America, and The Arc of Loudoun at Paxton Campus; received a $5,000 donation, and pictures of their check presentations and information about the organizations can be found at www.shoeloverscare.com.

These donations add to the others made through the Shoe Lovers Care Leave Your Mark program and, to date, DSW has donated $770,000 to 55 organizations.
