ASHBURN, Va., May 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Duct Doctor USA, a veteran-owned small business that provides services throughout Northern Virginia and the Hampton Roads regions, has been awarded a Facilities Maintenance and Management Schedule 03FAC Contract for Air Duct Cleaning services by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). Federal agencies can now procure Duct Doctor USA's air duct cleaning services at pre-competed rates, increasing the productivity and capacity of scarce acquisition resources, while decreasing their total building energy consumption. Proper maintenance is critical in extending the life of their onsite air-handling equipment and improving the overall indoor air quality for their valued employees.
Studies by the University of Colorado Boulder, at their Larson Building Systems Laboratory, show that the removal of debris inside ductwork and the cleaning of the impacted cooling coils can reduce the running time of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems by as much as thirty percent.
"Clean duct work and air-handling equipment directly correlates with long-term savings in energy costs, reducing a facility's carbon footprint and improving the working environment for employees," said Christopher J. Little, President of Duct Doctor USA. "Using the GSA schedule to acquire these services means facility managers can easily attain these benefits and savings."
The award of the Facilities Maintenance and Management Schedule 03FAC enhances Duct Doctor USA's long-term service to government customers. Duct Doctor USA has been previously selected for award on Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Internal Revenue Service and Department of Homeland Security service projects.
Duct Doctor USA also services commercial facilities and private residences, with more than 10,000 residential customers served since its founding in 2004.
