After sending out the message, Dulcimer Girl went ahead and booked ten tables priced at RMB 1,588 each at the Phoenix Lake Restaurant in Chengdu's Qingbaijiang district.

Dulcimer Girl also added this post to her microblog at 11pm, November 1: "I have decided to play my own personal adaptation of The Phoenix at the Phoenix Lake Garden Square tomorrow. I will not care what others may think of my performance."

At noon on November 2, the young lady came to the square as she had promised. One of her fans not only came to the site in an expression of heartfelt support, but also prepared a special poster for her, depicting her love declaration in large letters for everyone to see – it said: "Everything is ready; all I need is a bridegroom."

The 20 year-old Dulcimer Girl played her adaptation of The Phoenix. "I came here as my fans had recommended the location. I checked it out and found its quiet atmosphere perfect for me to play my composition. Finally, my application to use the square for the performance was approved by the authorities in charge of the square."

Dulcimer Girl's performance attracted many visitors, as the "2011 Chengdu Qingbaijiang Autumn Chrysanthemum Festival" was being held in the same venue. Hu Erhong, a 64 year-old man from Pujiang, took a picture of Dulcimer Girl with a single-lens reflex camera while she was playing. Hu said if he had a daughter he would also support her handling her search for a marriage partner in this way. "Well, its okay for young people to seek happiness this way," he said.
