
DWK Kicks Off 2012 with Some Exciting Firm News
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dannis Woliver Kelley (DWK), California's leading, full-service education law firm, is pleased to usher in 2012 with some exciting firm announcements. Shareholder Jonathan Pearl, immediate past Chair of our Labor, Employment and Personnel practice group, has become an owner in the firm as of January 1, 2012. "From the moment I started with this law firm 11 years ago, I felt an immediate bond with the attorneys and clients," says Jon. "I knew that I had landed in the right place. Being able to devote an entire practice to serving educational clients is rare and extremely fulfilling." Jon works out of our San Diego office and represents education clients throughout the state in labor, employment and personnel matters as well as governing board and student issues. In other practice news, Candace Bandoian, a shareholder in our Long Beach office, has been promoted to Chair of our Labor, Employment and Personnel group. For nearly 12 years she has represented schools districts in labor, employment and personnel matters. She is an experienced labor negotiator who has sat at many bargaining tables and continues to work with many districts throughout Southern California. Candace co-leads (with Jon) the firm's popular Southern California Ed Lab Series for labor relations and human resources professionals.
The California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) recently honored shareholder Marilyn Cleveland with an award naming her "Northern Section Associate Member of the Year" for 2011. Marilyn represents school and community college districts as an expert in real property, business, and construction matters. Marilyn is a well known speaker at trade association conferences for K-12 and community college districts and works hard to support and promote the efforts of CASBO in particular offering support and training to its members over the years.
Finally, the firm is pleased to welcome new attorneys to our San Francisco, Long Beach and San Diego offices. Deepika Saluja (Long Beach) joins our Business, Property and Construction and Litigation groups and brings substantial experience arguing motions in federal and state court and representing clients in mediations. Erin Doyle (San Diego) joins our Special Education and Litigation groups after having worked several years on Capitol Hill for Senator Ron Wyden and Congressman Lane Evan as a legislative aide. Dikla Shenhav (San Francisco) has joined our Litigation practice group with a background in the juvenile justice system, having represented numerous children in dependency proceedings. John M.C. Reilly(Long Beach) is an experienced litigation attorney with bench and jury trial experience. He has spent the last few years working at the Edelman's Children Court in Los Angeles. He will be joining our Litigation and LEAP practice groups in mid-February.
