Earth Institute's Dr. Steven Cohen To Speak On Global Sustainability At Ross School In East Hampton
Talk will address issues from global economics and public policy to preparing for effects of climate change on New York's coastal zones
EAST HAMPTON, N.Y., Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Ross Institute will host an evening dedicated to an analysis of current issues in human and environmental sustainability with public policy expert Dr. Steven Cohen, Executive Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University. With over a dozen research units and partnerships with renowned international collaborators, the Earth Institute is a global leader in addressing complex issues facing our planet and its inhabitants. The public is invited to take part in the discussion with Dr. Cohen and members of the Ross community next Thursday.
Dr. Cohen's talk, titled "A Positive Vision of the Transition to Sustainability: The Role of Research, Education, Communities and Institutions," will address current trends in sustainability and the need to devote resources to Earth observation, research and development of sustainability technology, and environmental education programs. He will also discuss the impact of climate change in New York's coastal areas and the need for resilient communities.
