Web hosting and domain name company Easyspace opens applications for adult TLD
Leading UK web hosting and domain name company Easyspace has announced that the Sunrise period for the highly anticipated .XXX domain name extension was successfully launched on Wednesday 7 September at 5pm GMT. It will remain open until 28 October 2011.

Last month Glasgow headquartered Easyspace revealed that 8 out 10 registrations of interest in the new .XXX domain name extension had been from businesses outside the adult industry.
The ICM Registry has introduced two Sunrise periods to allow applicants to secure their .XXX domain names before General Availability opens in December.
During the Sunrise A period, owners of registered Trademarks who operate within the adult online entertainment industry and applicants from the Sponsored Community who already own and operate an existing exact matching domain name in another gTLD or ccTLD are invited to secure their .XXX domain.
Sunrise B period is specifically designed for non-adult Intellectual Property holders who are non-members of the adult Sponsored Community with verifiable trademark rights who want to block .XXX web addresses corresponding with their registered Trademark.
Multiple qualifying applications submitted during Sunrise B will result in the domain name being reserved in exactly the same way as if there were only a single applicant. However, registered Trademark owners within the Sponsored Community will have priority over the owner of an identical Trademark not operating within the adult entertainment industry. In the event of competing Sunrise Phase A applications, the domain name will be auctioned amongst qualified applicants.
Landrush opens on 8 November and closes on 25 November 2011. In this period applications will only be accepted from Sponsored Community members without specific requirements such as Trademarks or pre-ownership rights requirements. Any .XXX domain that has not been registered during Sunrise A and B period will be eligible for Landrush registration. General Availability opens on 6 December 2011.
