SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Car-buying platform Edmunds.com today announced that the company will host its first-ever "Take Your Parents to Work Day" at its Santa Monica headquarters on Thursday, April 23, 2015. The inaugural event is a new twist on National Take Your Child to Work Day (also held on April 23), and will give parents – especially the parents of the company's scores of Millennial employees – an opportunity to see how their kids are contributing to the success of one of the most innovative companies in the automotive industry.
"All parents care about what their children are up to, no matter what age they are, so this is an excellent opportunity for parents to see firsthand how their kids are thriving in their professional careers," says Edmunds.com CEO Avi Steinlauf. "And on a personal level, I'm looking forward to meeting with and thanking the parents who are responsible for raising all of the extraordinary colleagues who work every single day to make this company great."
According to LinkedIn, about one-third of parents are in the dark about what their children do for work. On "Take Your Parents to Work Day," Edmunds.com will open its doors to employee parents and educate them on the company's operations and culture. Activities include a meet-and-greet with company executives, a tour of office facilities, a showcase of Edmunds' fleet of long-term test cars, and a happy hour featuring a preview of the company's upcoming products and services.
Edmunds.com has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Southern California by Los Angeles Business Journal in each of the last five years. The company proudly operates a Results Only Work Environment (ROWE) in which employees are offered the freedom to work at any time from any location in which they can most effectively deliver their expected results. The policy also allows Edmunds.com employees the freedom (subject to certain requirements) to take as much paid time-off as desired. The company's headquarters has also been recognized as an architectural symbol of the emergence of "Silicon Beach."
