EducationDegree.com announces recipients of $5,000 in teaching scholarships
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Aug. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- EducationDegree.com is pleased to announce the winners of its $2,500 "Back to School" teaching scholarships for current and aspiring teachers.
The scholarships (one for a current teacher pursuing an advanced teaching degree and one for an aspiring teacher pursuing initial teacher certification) were created in 2010, in response to the country's need for highly-skilled teachers and to emphasize the importance of continued education in the field.
The two winners, Elaine Chang of Tustin, California (enrolling at California State University, Fullerton) and Melissa A. Kliegle of Duluth, Minnesota (enrolling at the College of St. Scholastica), were chosen from a highly competitive applicant pool based on their exemplary academic and extracurricular records. "We are thrilled to congratulate Elaine and Melissa, and we wish them and all the other applicants the best of luck in their education careers," said Joseph Deal, the founder of EducationDegree.com.
The scholarship program was managed by Scholarship America, the nation's leading administrator of private scholarships. The next round of "Back to School" Teaching Scholarship applications will open in March 2012.
