Effective Leadership: Transforming the Landscape of Education
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., March 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A group of tailored leadership development programs presented by The Principals' Center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education will build on the set of strategic management skills K–12 leaders rely on to run successful schools. The three programs, Improving Schools: The Art of Leadership, Leadership: An Evolving Vision and National Institute For Urban School Leaders, will be held on the Harvard University campus during the months of June, July and August.
Since school leaders today face an array of financial and organizational challenges, the ability to act both efficiently and adaptively has never been more important to an institution's success. Administrators make pivotal decisions that shape the education of students, the growth of staff and the mission of a school for years to come.
The Principals' Center programs address how to tackle these enormous responsibilities—and in order to ensure the relevance of issues discussed, feature engagements based on an individual's leadership experience. Improving Schools: The Art of Leadership targets those with 1–5 years in an administrative role, Leadership: An Evolving Vision focuses on individuals with 3+ years experience and the National Institute For Urban School Leaders caters to leaders in urban environments. While the focus of each program is slightly different, the ultimate goal is the same: enable school leaders to support and raise student achievement.

They will consider with the versatility of their role as both an instructional leaders and managers, learning how to best push academic achievement in the classroom while enabling a supportive school culture to thrive.
An Evolving Role

The program, Leadership: An Evolving Vision, taking place July 15–22, 2010, dynamically targets this challenge and examines new opportunities and methods for leadership growth and school improvement. Attendees will spend a week strengthening the base they already have, evaluating the effectiveness of current practices, gaining new techniques to supplement and revitalize their present educational strategies.
