Remind Everyone to "Check Your Neck"

NEW YORK, Nov. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- EHE International and the Light of Life Foundation (LOL) www.checkyourneck.com, which supports research and care for those with thyroid cancer, are pleased to announce the unveiling of a window display at Rockefeller Center reminding Americans to "Check Your Neck" for early signs of thyroid cancer. The window will prominently display images from LOL's 2011 public awareness campaign featuring Brooke Shields and Cindy Crawford wearing "threatening neckwear."

Detecting thyroid cancer, the fastest rising cancer among women in the United States, may come down to the simplest of tests: Check your neck. And, that is exactly what the Light of Life Foundation encourages people to do during Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month (September) and beyond. In 2010, at least 43,000 new cases of thyroid cancer were diagnosed and treated. Because of the excellent overall survival rate after treatment for thyroid cancer, there are at least 350,000 thyroid cancer survivors living in the U.S. A 30-year survival rate for individuals with thyroid cancer is the great prognosis for more than 90 percent of those who have appropriate initial therapy.
