Ekahau RTLS Safety Solution Adopted by Five California Department of State Hospitals (DSH) Facilities

RESTON, Va., Oct. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ekahau Inc., the high-performance leader in Real-Time Location Systems (RFID-over-Wi-Fi) announced today the selection of its location-aware safety alerting solution at three California Department of State Hospitals (DSH) facilities with two more planned in the near future. California facilities that have selected Ekahau's safety alerting solution, include: Atascadero State Hospital, Coalinga State Hospital, Metropolitan State Hospital, Patton State Hospital, and Napa State Hospital. By giving campus police real-time visibility into employee and visitor locations during emergencies, DSH expects to shrink emergency response times and improve workplace safety for caregivers and vendors.

Installed by Ekahau partners AT&T and NetXperts at Napa State Hospital, Ekahau RTLS leverages the facility's Cisco Wireless LAN to enable over 2,000 wearable active RFID badges which alert police of emergencies and indicate the location of the emergency, indoors and outdoors. Employees and visitors who need assistance simply pull down on Ekahau badges worn on lanyards, and their location is identified on security monitors, web-based floor plans and on Ekahau badges worn by the police and other staff members closest to the emergency. The Ekahau Vision™ software platform also allows administrators to send mass notifications to badge-holders and offers a Forensics Replay™ feature which allows playback and analysis of emergencies responses, by administrators.
