FREMONT, Calif., June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Elma Electronic Inc. introduces the A47 audio attenuator, a switch designed specifically to provide high-end volume control, superb sonic performance and precise switch feel. First in a series of new PCB-based audio switches from Elma, these low-profile attenuators provide 47 positions with selectable end-stops from 1 to 6 channels.

Built on the uncompromising quality audiophiles have come to expect from Elma, the new A47 series features Elma's hallmark indexing feel for superior tactile feedback

The series offers switching torques of 1.5 Ncm to 5 Ncm as standard and are populated with low-noise, high precision SMT resistors offering standard input impedances of 10k, 25k, 50k, 100k or 600 Ohms.

Two, non-populated THT versions are available that can be custom populated by the user. The standard version is for 1/8th to 1/2-watt resistors, and the "jumbo" PCB version is for those audiophiles that prefer the sound quality of larger wattage resistors. A free Excel-based resistor calculator tool is downloadable from the Elma website.

For convenient remote operation, Elma offers an optional motorized, remote control kit with a motor drive for the A47 as an accessory. A selector switch variant will be added to the series later this year.

The new audio switches are perfect for mixing desks and outboard studio equipment as well as for high-end home audio and theater configurations.
