TROY, Mich., Dec. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Michigan owned and operated Emagine Entertainment, Inc. is pleased to announce that it intends to show the film The Interview starting on Wednesday, December 31st at its Canton, Michigan location. Tickets will be paid for by Emagine and offered to the general public on a first-come first-serve basis. At present, the film is expected to have a one week run and Emagine will distribute as many as 5,000 tickets free of charge to its guests.
As is typical for the company and its commitment to philanthropy, Emagine is undertaking this special event in conjunction with a charity partner. Emagine's box office personnel will be glad to accept donations in person or they can be mailed to P.O. Box 33099, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48303-0003.
According to Jon Goldstein, Emagine's operating partner, "Over the past week, our industry has had to make some challenging decisions based on the release of The Interview. While we are sympathetic to the plight of our partners at Sony, and regardless of their release tactics on this film, we are happy for the opportunity to show the film on the big screen as it was meant to be seen." Paul Glantz, Emagine's CEO added, "Emagine and its leadership team are committed to protecting America's right to free speech. We are happy to make this film available for free to our customers and even happier that this creates a charitable opportunity to help wounded soldiers that have fought to protect our freedoms. Exhibiting the film at Emagine Canton ensures that moviegoers benefit, free of charge, from the exemplary experience of seeing feature films on the big screen. Emagine Canton is in the midst of a complete facelift and this will give moviegoers the chance to enjoy The Interview in our all-new powered reclining chairs. The theatrical experience is special and we are committed to keeping it special. We honor both filmmakers and audiences by exhibiting films in great theatres."
