Emigrant Savings Bank Receives Medallions in Honor of Contribution to NYC Bridge Centennial
NEW YORK, Nov. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- At a ceremony at its Midtown Manhattan headquarters, Emigrant Savings Bank received a set of bronze commemorative medallions from the NYC Bridge Centennial Commission in recognition of Emigrant's contribution to the 100th Anniversary celebration for several New York City bridges.
The centennial celebration, which took place in 2010, included the planning and execution of six commemorative events that engaged thousands of New York City residents in celebrating New York City bridges that reached hundredth birthdays between 2008 and 2010. The Bridges included the Queensboro and Manhattan Bridges, along with the Borden Avenue Bridge, the University Heights Bridge, the Pelham Bay Bridge and the Madison Avenue Bridge. Events included lectures, dance and music, walking tours, boat tours and fireworks over the East River.
John Hart, Vice Chairman of Emigrant Savings Bank, received the medallions on behalf of the bank.
"I am honored to receive these medallions on behalf of Emigrant Savings Bank and Howard P. Milstein, Chairman of our parent company, New York Private Bank & Trust," said Mr. Hart "Like the bridges themselves, we feel Emigrant Savings Bank is an integral part of New York City's infrastructure. For more than 160 years, we've connected communities throughout the Greater New York area. We are therefore particularly proud to have participated in such a memorial celebration."
Emigrant Savings Bank and the Milstein family, which owns the bank, have been strong supporters of New York civic and charitable causes. From Lincoln Center, to the American Museum of Natural History, to the New York Public Library and the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, the Milsteins support a wide variety of events and charities dedicated to enhancing the life and experiences of all New Yorkers.
