End of Era: The Drummond Group, Inc. Mourns Death of Chairman James Samuel Drummond Sr
TUSCALOOSA, Ala., May 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- James Samuel Drummond, Sr, 98, Chairman of The Drummond Group, Inc., died on May 8th, 2017 in Slidell, LA.
Mr. Drummond was President of Park Supply Company, Inc. from 1964-2000, heavily involved with sales and was instrumental in fostering business relationships that spanned 71 years. He assumed additional responsibilities as President of the corporation and Chairman of its Executive Committee. In a statement Tuesday, a company spokesperson said: "Today we are mourning the loss of Mr. Drummond and reflecting on the impact that he had on the company and on our community."
Mr. Drummond is survived by his three sons, his three grandsons, seven great-grandchildren, his brother and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Drummond served in the United States Army during World War II as a Master SGT being stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey before leaving the United States. He set sail on the USS Wisteria spending the majority of time in North Africa, Italy and England.
Over the course of the war he would cross the Atlantic twenty two times from 1941-1945. Upon his return to Tuscaloosa he was employed by Coale Supply. He founded Park Supply Company Inc. in 1964 where he remained as President and CEO for over thirty six years. He was a member of many business and civic organizations over the course of his career. His family, friends and employees will remember him for his wit, work ethic and friendship.
