Endeavor Robotics holds demo for Congressman Trent Kelly as company headcount jumps 30%
Mississippi Congressman the 14th member of House Armed Services Committee to meet with largest ground robot maker for U.S. military; Endeavor's headcount surges more than 30% in 2018 as it fills major DoD program orders
BOSTON, July 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Endeavor Robotics demonstrated its tactical unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) and related technology for U.S. Representative Trent Kelly (MS-1st) during the Congressman's visit to the Boston area on Friday, June 29.
Kelly, the fourteenth member of the House Armed Services Committee to see Endeavor in the last two years, met with CEO Sean Bielat and saw a demo of its FirstLook robot and uPoint control system. Congressman Jim Banks (IN-3rd) toured the company's offices in Chelmsford, Mass. the week prior.
"It's impressive to see robots like this that play such a vital role keeping American troops and civilians out of harm's way," said Kelly. "It speaks both to the level of engineering that goes into every unmanned vehicle as well as to our brave men and women in uniform who rely on this technology on the frontlines."
"We're honored Congressman Kelly took the time to see up-close what makes our robots special," said Bielat. "His leadership on the House Armed Services Committee, and on the battlefields of Iraq, gives him a unique perspective on the difference UGVs can make helping troops conduct missions more safely.
"Our team continues to work hard building robots that save lives," Bielat added.
Since the start of 2018, Endeavor's headcount has climbed more than 30% as the company staffs up several large programs it's recently won with the U.S. Army, Marines, and other customers to field ground robots on a more wide-scale basis. Endeavor also is expanding its Chelmsford facility by 10,000 sq. ft. to boost manufacturing space it needs for increased demand.
Congressman Kelly has spent 32 years in the Mississippi Army National Guard and currently serves as a Brigadier General. He mobilized for Desert Storm in 1990, deployed as a Major to Iraq in 2005 and again from 2009 to 2010 as a Lieutenant Colonel and Battalion Commander. He has received two Bronze Stars, the Combat Action Badge, plus many other federal and state awards for his service.
