Enlightened Awarded a Contract with the Bureau of Labor Statistics for Information Assurance Services
WASHINGTON, Feb. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Enlightened, Inc. ("Enlightened"), a leading Information Technology (IT) consulting firm, announced today that it has been awarded a contract with the US Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) to conduct information assurance (IA) services which includes a Security Controls Assessment (SCA). Since 2006, Enlightened has performed Certification and Accreditation (C&A) services and vulnerability assessments at BLS.
The SCA will review the security posture of BLS' infrastructure measuring it against guidelines deriving from the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53 Revision 3, Recommended Security Controls for Federal Information Systems. As a part of the SCA, Enlightened will identify the implemented management, technical and operational security controls and assess them to determine their effectiveness and the probability of each deficiency causing a security issue. In addition, a vulnerability assessment of the BLS network will be conducted using NESSUS.
"This initiative is critical because the information collected by BLS is used to support U.S. Congress decision-making. It is essential to safeguard the integrity of the information in order to ensure accurate decisions are being made and we are appreciative that BLS continues to entrust Enlightened to perform this work," said Ms. Akisha Campbell.
