
Environmental Stewards to be Honored at Green Tie Gala
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Frontier Project has announced the 2010 recipients of the Environmental Steward Awards. The awards will be presented at this year's Green Tie Gala, on Saturday, October 16, 2010, 6-10 p.m., in Rancho Cucamonga.
The Frontier Project's 2010 Environmental Steward Award recipients are:
- Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for his numerous legislative accomplishments in support of the environment, including AB 32 – Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006.
- Linda Ceballos, Environmental Programs Manager, City of Rancho Cucamonga who has developed and currently oversees programs including storm drain water pollution prevention, waste management and recycling.
- Casey Dailey, Assistant to the Mayor, City of San Bernardino for his leadership in developing San Bernardino's Energy Efficiency & Conservation Strategy under the federal Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant Program.
- The City of Rancho Cucamonga for its collaborative approach to improving sustainability in operations and increasing community awareness of healthy minds, body and earth.
- The City of Riverside for its active residents and leaders who have created a Clean & Green Task Force and became the first "Emerald City" of California.
Each year, people and entities like these, are recognized at the Frontier Project's Green Tie Gala fundraiser for making an impact and promoting sustainability in their communities through the Environmental Steward Awards.
The Frontier Project is an endeavor of the Cucamonga Valley Water District through its Frontier Project Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the environmental challenges of the region. It has earned a LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
This year's Gala will be hosted by fashion model and noted sustainable living advocate Didiayer Snyder – the "green voice" for ABC-TV's Emmy-winning EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION. The Australian native is a longtime volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, having served as its national ambassador, and has contributed her carpentry skills and knowledge of sustainable living to communities across the country.
