e'pack by Environment - Where Desire and Responsibility Become One
LOS ANGELES, April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Environment is proud to announce the e'pack collection by Creative Director, Jean-Marie Massaud. The collection of seating, occasionals, planters, and lamps will debut April 14-16 in Milan's Zona Tortona.
Since its origin, this California-based company has chosen to anchor its work in the respect for the planet and mankind. For Environment this means an ongoing effort into the research and implementation of reclaimed materials, a responsible use of resources, and manufacturing processes with low environmental impact. Jean Marie Massaud's shared understanding that sustainability must begin today and can only come about through alternative solutions that address our desires as well as our sense of responsibility.
"I love the Environment attitude: enjoy, share and preserve. Our partnership is about cultural innovation, and a trust in intelligent creativity and worldly sensitivity. Sustainability is an investment in competence, quality and timelessness for a better life surrounding," says Massaud. "We must always start with a very simple question: why and for what purpose are we creating new objects and services? Given the stakes and the state of our planet we must create thoughtfully."
Under Massaud's guide, Environment debuts in Zona Tortona during in the Salone del Mobile 2010 with an extraordinary and farsighted project named e'pack, where the e stands for efficient, environmental, and economical. The beauty of these plans lies in their simple and warm meaningfulness. Most of them are constructed with reclaimed materials, or with high tech light materials, and designed to be comfortable and functional.
"The e'pack pieces are light, comfortable and compact, thus requiring minimal packaging, storage and reduced energy use in transport, all precious resources," says Massaud.
The e'pack collection includes:
- seating in wood and reclaimed fabrics that are naturally light, resistant and soft with a lived-in and familiar essence, designed by Marc Berthier
- planters made with natural canvas or organic leather that is supple enough to allow it to be rolled down vertically to adjust to the desired height
- low tables and stools constructed with sturdy organically tanned leathers and reclaimed wood frames
- a series of ceiling and floor lamps made with recyclable Tyvek , a DuPont material that has a higher strength to weight ratio than paper and new to Environment as part of the e'pack collection
- an exceptionally light modular shelving system made of honey comb cardboard and recycled paper.
Environment proudly thanks DuPont for their support.
