Equitable Gas Donates $24,000 To Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh From Second Fueling Your Day With Love Campaign
After a successful first year, this year's donation exceeds last year's by $7,000
PITTSBURGH, June 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In its second year, Equitable Gas once again partnered with local McDonald's restaurants for the Fueling Your Day With Love Campaign as part of its efforts to improve the well-being of children in Western Pennsylvania and the communities it serves. Today, Equitable Gas donated $24,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh, which exceeded last year's donation by $7,000.
The Fueling Your Day With Love Campaign began on March 19 and ran through April 30 and was also supported by Renda Broadcasting. For the campaign, Equitable Gas pledged to donate two cents per cup of Premium Roast Drip Coffee sold at all local McDonald's restaurants during this time period.
Accepting the check on behalf of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh was Matt Cooke, professional hockey player in Pittsburgh, who enthusiastically volunteered to be this year's campaign spokesman. Mr. Cooke volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh and helped inspire the goal for the campaign. Since Mr. Cooke wears jersey number 24 while playing hockey, the campaign's goal was for neighborhood McDonald's restaurants in western Pennsylvania to sell 1.2 million cups of McDonald's Premium Roast Drip Coffee and Equitable Gas would donate $24,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh. They were just shy of selling 1.2 million cups, but Equitable Gas generously agreed to make up the difference to still provide the full donation amount to the charity.
"Improving the well-being of children and supporting families throughout our service territory in western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky is a priority for Equitable Gas and the highly successful Fueling Your Day With Love Campaign allows us to act on this priority," said Bill Lucas, President of Equitable Gas Company.
