Essex County Council and Pi Care and Health to Work Together to Improve the Lives of Children

Essex County Council has chosen data analytics experts Pi Care and Health to develop and deliver an innovative platform which will integrate multiple data sources to improve the life chances and outcomes for children. Using advanced risk stratification and predictive modelling capability this will provide opportunities for early interventions and local improvements.

In the first year, the initial prototype development will begin in Basildon with expected roll out to the rest of Essex over the following 3 years.

Funding for this project has come from the DCLG Transformation Challenge Award (TCA). This 'New Generations Project' will focus on under fives, unborn babies and their families. The TCA programme is committed to improving health, education, social and economic wellbeing while at the same time, reducing demand on high cost specialist services. It will initially collect data from four main areas; housing and benefits, health visits, children's socialcare and school readiness indicators.

The organisations involved in this initial prototype phase include Basildon Borough Council, CCG and NHS England commissioned services, adult mental health service providers, Basildon & Thurrock University Hospital Trust, dental practices and GP surgeries. Also participating will be several service providers within Essex County Council, including health visitors, midwives and adult social care providers, together with primary schools, early years providers and local police services.
