EU Awards Grants to Top US Public Policy Institutes
WASHINGTON, Dec. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The European Union has selected nine top US think tanks and public policy institutes as beneficiaries of the biennial EU-US Policy Research and Debate grant competition. Their grant activities will encourage reflection and discussion on the EU-US relationship, address a growing transatlantic agenda for globalization, and take a fresh look at existing EU-US and international institutional frameworks.
Grant funds will facilitate the organization of conferences, workshops, symposia and working group meetings, bringing together some of the greatest minds from both sides of the Atlantic to discuss how the US and the EU can improve policy cooperation. The think tanks will receive grants totaling 1 million euros for the 2012-2013 period.
"These grants are of great value to the transatlantic relationship," said Ambassador Joao Vale de Almeida, Head of the European Union Delegation to the United States, in announcing the winners.
