DETROIT, April 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 10,000 families are looking for kindergarten or ninth grade seats in Detroit this spring, and Enroll Detroit aims to help them apply in one easy step this Sunday April 17 from noon to 4 p.m. at their first citywide Eastern Market School Expo. Using just one-application families will be able to apply to more than 40 schools and learn more about early learning programs for children from birth to four.
Enroll Detroit is a new, locally created free service designed to help families navigate the school enrollment process at all schools, and advocate on behalf of families experiencing enrollment challenges. Families can use Enroll Detroit's new coordinated enrollment application now through April 30 to apply to as many as eight participating schools on just one application.
"Our staff is committed to finding out what it is families need, supporting them in the enrollment process, and always helping them find the answers they need to make the best decision for their child's education," said Bernita Bradley, Enroll Detroit's manager of Outreach & EdCenters. "You name it, I have tried it myself as a Detroit schools mom, so I know first-hand what it is families are going through to try and enroll their students. It doesn't have to be that way anymore."
Families looking to enroll in school or an early learning program for 2016-2017 should attend the Enroll Detroit Eastern Market School Expo to learn about their options and apply on-site. All Detroit schools are invited to share their materials, Sunday, April 17, from Noon to 4 p.m. at Eastern Market's Shed 5.
